2020 Farm Stand Opening

FARM STAND OPENS WEDNESDAY, JUNE 24, 2020!! Nitta Ranch is very excited to announce that the Farm Stand will officially be open for business this Wednesday, June 24, and we have a great crop of peaches and other produce!

The Important Stuff:
PLEASE ALWAYS CHECK EITHER OUR WEBSITE, FACEBOOK, OR INSTAGRAM BEFORE HEADING TO THE FARM. We have  a lot of peaches, but, depending on the crowds, we may sell out each day before we close. So, please always check our website, Facebook, or Instagram before you head out to make sure we still have peaches. We will NOT be sending out emails every time we sell out or have to change the schedule, so checking our website or social media is the ONLY WAY to know if we are still open.

PEACH LIMITS: This year, during the first few days we are open when customer demand is really high, we will be limiting the amount of peaches you can buy to one 5 pound bag, approximately ½ of one of our lug boxes. We want to let as many customers as possible purchase fruit. Come back and get more. We will be open as long as we have ripe fruit to pick.

NEW HOURS THIS SEASON
Monday – Sunday: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm (or until we sell out!)
We may close some days in order to let the fruit ripen. All closures will be announced on our website, Facebook, and Instagram.
For your convenience, we accept credit cards

NUMBER SYSTEM TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE GETS PEACHES:
Last year, we tried out a number system to make it easier for customers to know if they would get peaches when we are busy. It worked pretty well, so we are doing it again (with even more numbers this time). During busy periods, you will be given a number when you arrive at the Ranch. If you have a number, you get peaches (period). This means, instead of waiting in line while other customers get their fruit, you can relax and enjoy the Ranch until your number is called. We hope this will make your visit more enjoyable, and relieve any frustration for customers who come all the way, wait in line, and then go home empty handed.

COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS
As much as we are excited to see you all again this year, we sincerely want you to know we have put much effort into ensuring you have a safe visit to our farm.

We are following the California Department of Food and Agriculture’s guidelines regarding farm stand sales.
We have changed the layout of the farm stand to allow you to maintain the recommended 6’ spacing.
We have eliminated the sampling.
We will be doing all of the bagging of produce for you.
We have added a hand washing station for you to use.We will be cleaning the tabletops, payment devices and other surfaces regularly.
We will be wearing masks for your protection.

Remember: Adding fresh fruits and vegetables to your diet is a great way to help you stay healthy.

plums
rainbow popcorn on the cob

Peaches Update & Ranch News

We are happy to announce that we have a wonderful peach crop this year. We anticipate opening the farm stand toward the end of June, so please keep an eye out for future newsletters with the exact date. We are sending a limited number of newsletters this year – we want to keep you inboxes as clear as possible! If you would like to be on our email list, please click on the “email list” link on our homepage. For those of you that use social media, follow us on Facebook and Instagram (@nittaranch), for more updates and fun news from the Ranch.

We are sorry if we missed you last year or if you were not able to come out and get peaches. 2018 was a tough year for Nitta Ranch. We had a very small crop of peaches due to rain during the blooming season and poor pollination. We also learned, the hard way, that our emails were not reaching all of our customers, so a lot of you never heard that we were open. We learned a lot from 2018 and hope to have a much improved 2019!

We have made a number of improvements that will hopefully make the Ranch run more smoothly:

  • We are using a new email newsletter service to improve communication with our customers.
  • We have added another member of the family to our team: Kate Nitta has taken over all of our marketing and social media management, and she is excited to be a part of the family legacy.
  • We have increased the size of the orchard and developed a tree replacement plan. We purchased 60 bare root trees from Fowlers Nursery in Newcastle, CA. Fowlers has supplied Nitta Ranch with its peach trees longer than any of us can remember. We are continuing to replace our older trees with vigorous youngsters. The trees we planted three years ago are bearing their first crop this year!

We also have some exciting new developments at the farm stand. We are thrilled to announce another family member who will be joining us this year: Jeremiah Duarte Bills will be offering his amazing peach desserts. You may recognize Jeremiah from ABC’s The Great American Baking Show, where he was a quarter-finalist. Jeremiah is also the co-founder of the baking podcast, Flour Hour. He is currently writing a book dedicated to the desserts of Portugal. You don’t want to miss his delectable creations, so stay tuned to future newsletters for more information, and check out his website: http://www.jeremiahbakes.com/.In addition to our usual offerings of peaches, plums, honey, and dried lavender, new to the farm stand this year is popcorn on the cob! It’s organic and makes a healthy snack or fun, beautiful gift. Wait until you see all the colors we have!

We are also going to continue to sell Colwell Thundering Herd Ranch olive oil and other products, so be prepared to stock up!

Peaches are temporarily out of stock. NOOOOOO!!!

…..But more are coming!

We picked all the ripe peaches this morning and due to overwhelming response, will are sold out. We should have more ripe by Sunday, July 8. So for Friday and Saturday we will only have plums, cucumbers, squash, tomatoes and
basil.

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience but they are very slow ripening this year. Please don’t hesitate to call or message us for the latest update: 916-768-8167
